1 head of cabbage, chopped
1 onion, chopped
2 tsp minced garlic
5 strips of bacon, cooked and crumbled
Reserved bacon grease
½ tsp onion powder
½ tsp garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
Cook the bacon in a skillet until crispy, then set it aside to cool. Reserve the bacon grease.
In a deep pot or large skillet, heat the reserved bacon grease over medium heat.
Add the chopped onion to the pot and cook until softened.
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
Reduce the heat to medium-low and add the chopped cabbage. Stir to combine, then cover the pot. Simmer until the cabbage is tender, stirring occasionally.
Season the cabbage mixture with onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to taste. Saute for another 2-3 minutes.
Sprinkle the crumbled bacon over the cabbage, stir to combine, and serve hot.
