1 onion, chopped

2 teaspoons minced garlic

5 strips of bacon, cooked and crumbled

Reserved bacon grease

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Salt and pepper to taste

Prepare the Bacon:

Cook the bacon until crispy. Once done, set it aside to cool. Reserve the bacon grease for cooking.

In a deep-sided pot or skillet, heat the reserved bacon grease over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened.

Add the minced garlic to the pot and sauté for another 30 seconds, stirring constantly.

Cook the Cabbage:

Reduce the heat to medium-low and add the chopped cabbage to the pot. Stir to combine with the onion and garlic mixture, then cover the pot.

Allow the cabbage to simmer until it has softened, stirring occasionally to ensure even cooking.

Season and Serve:

Once the cabbage is tender, stir in the onion powder, garlic powder, and salt and pepper to taste. Sauté for an additional 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Sprinkle the crumbled bacon over the top of the cabbage.
